Cottesloe Accommodation Right Next To The Beach

Close your eyes and imagine a beautiful sandy white beach just 15 min drive away from Perth and Fremantle. This is Cottesloe Beach.

Cottesloe Beach

A beach fringed with tall Norfolk pines, grassy picnic areas and shelter from the sea breezes. A beach that is perfect for swimming, snorkeling, surfing and of course just hanging out. Just nearby you’ll see cafes, shops and pubs to keep everyone happy as well.

This is Cottesloe Beach, arguably Perth’s most popular beach and rightly so. It’s a great place to watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean while kicking back with a cold beer or glass of wine. There is also a nice view of Rottnest Island about 20 kms offshore.

The water is perfect for a cool refreshing swim. There’s also a reef to one side that is very popular for snorkeling due to the large variety of fish to be seen. If you are lucky enough, you might even spot a weedy sea dragon. Or even better, a leafy seadragon. The reef here is now classifed as Fish Habitat Protection Area.

Your safety is monitored by the Cottesloe Surf Life Saving Club from their iconic position right under the Indiana Teahouse. Early on Sunday mornings is the best time to watch lifesavers going through their drills with club members.

The beach is accessible all year but surfing with hard boards is only allowed in the winter months. Thats cool though as in summer there’s hardly any surf. Better to drive down south to the Yallingup and Margaret River for that.

Besides driving, you can go to Cottesloe Beach on Transperth buses from both Perth and Fremantle. You can also get a train but be aware that it’s about a 20 minute walk from the train station.
