Eco-friendly Facebook-friendly – h2hotel in Healdsburg, CA
The newly opened h2hotel in Healdsburg, CA adds one more ultra-green hotel to the growing list of eco-friendly Wine Country retreats.

The $19 million, 36-room hotel is aiming for LEED Gold certification. Everything about it – the lower case h2hotel name, the water bars and the undulating living roof that blends into the hillside – is themed to reflect a harmony with the surroundings.
The first thing you’ll see when you arrive is the ‘Spoonfall’ water sculpture that uses collected rainfall and thousands of espresso spoons sending down water droplets.
Once inside, the lobby has the ‘Receptobar’ where you check-in. There’s a Flying Goat Coffee bar and the h2shop, if you want to indulge in eco-fashion or stock up on gourmet drinks and snacks.
h2hotel’s 36 rooms include 28 guest rooms, 6 junior suites and 2 suites. The 11-foot ceilings, striped bamboo floors and the outdoor sitting balconies with rusting steel grillework provide the rustic touch. The art in the rooms was commissioned by San Francisco Bay Area artist Kathi Aoki.
The rooms have a flatscreen tv and king beds that convert to two twins, a glass walk-in shower and signature bath products including organic Coyuchi linens and robes.

If that’s not luxury enough, the junior suites have Japanese style soaking tubs, pull-out sofa beds and designer furnishings. The larger suites have separate living rooms with pull-out beds, powder rooms, and walk-in closets with full length mirrors.
As for what to do, the lobby has a fireplace and couches. There’s a solar heated creek side swimming pool, and complimentary bicycles if you want to get a taste of Northern Sonoma wine and Wine Country. The Spoonbar restaurant offers a casual ambience for dinner, along with artisan cocktails and wine.

Now for the facebook-friendly part. For starters, h2hotel has a nice blog that is unusually active for a hotel that just opened on July 1. They’re also all over facebook pushing the hotel’s image as a hip and fun place with bees buzzing around on the green roof.
Since the same gang also runs the much more conservative Hotel Healdsburg, it’s admirable that they’re able to market two hotels in the same place so differently.
