Equipments For Winter Backpacking
Packing for a long trip can be stressful. You know you want to have everything you’ll need, but will you be able to lift your luggage when you get it packed?. Then you also have to consider what to pack for your return trip.
Where to Go During Winter
Traveling during winter means you can ski and snow board all you want. Select a destination that offers the best amenities. Also, take note of the weather conditions in the region. Select according to these factors and solicit the help of your travel agent.
Winter Hiking Gear
Hiking during the winter holidays? Planning for a theme holiday can be a pain or a pleasure. First of all, you have to consider the activities you’re going to do when you get to the location to plan the gear you’re going to bring. You also need to consider for how long you will be in the location.
Your Gear
First item will be winter hiking boots. Don’t compromise when it comes to the quality of boots you’re bringing along. Your feet must be comfortable all the while so that you don’t injure yourself. Out in the wilderness during winter, you must always take care of your eyes. To prevent snow blindness, it is recommended to use sunglasses that transmit 5-10 % of visible light and absorb almost all UV rays.
When you go to the shop, look for bright colored hiking flags you can use to mark your route. Get flares that you can use to call for help if you get stranded in a snow storm.
First Aid Supplies
Travel First Aid Kits is a must. Make sure there is extra room in each suitcase to hold your toiletries and a first aid kit. The basics include bandages, splints and anti-inflammation ointments. Trekking is always dangerous whether in the winter or summer. You have to be prepared to deal with scrapes and cuts, as well as bigger injuries. First aid knowledge is helpful if you’re traveling with a group. Every group needs a medic.
Don’t bring anything fancy, but you need unscented soap and anti-allergy medication too. Cuts are more likely to get inflamed if not washed properly. Use a watertight first aid kit. Water has a way of seeping through non-resistant material, so you need to make sure your medicines and bandages stay dry.
Clothes
During winter, warm clothes are a must. Lightweight clothes are ideal because they can be layered. This way, if you get too warm, you can take a layer off. Another benefit to using lightweight clothes is that they’re easier to carry because they take up less room.
When considering which items to bring along with you, think about your accommodations. Is a tent your only residence for the duration? Will you be staying in a rented cabin with your hiking buddies? If you can wash your clothes at least once while you’re gone, you can avoid having to take so many clothes to begin with. If you have a way to wash clothes, you can bring less clothes with you.
