I started bidding for 5 start Strip North at $50 from 07/27 to 07/30, 2 rooms each night. Got rejected. So decided to add Strip South and add 4 star, changed bid to $43, hoping to get Caesar’s. Got accepted for Luxor. I checked other websites like hotels.com and tripadvisor.com, it is listed as a 3.5 and many negative comments and there is a mandatory $15 per room per night resort fee. This is definately a ripoff.
I called Priceline and spoke with two representative for ten minutes, cannot change or get a refund. I will try to see if can report to credit card as a fraud because “Name your price” claims to save up to 50% but on major websites and on its own website, the published rate is $45 compared to $43 of my bid. What a scam!
Lessons learned:
1. Do more research using Priceline’s own website before changing the bid especially adding a lower start selection.
