Our Big Apple Weekend Came With Adventure and Hurdles But Was Amazing
I’d never been to Big Apple before and when my friends and I chose to finally make plans to go I was so happy. Little did I realize or even consider the trip clearly enough to grasp it would come with its challenges. Well, I knew there are challenges in any giant city but trying to sleep was one I didn’t think about beforehand. Fortunately my friend had a CD hypnosis for sleep which actually helped. And when I did get sufficient rest the days and nights were just wonderful.
It is one thing to see pictures, videos and even television shows about NY City but its quite another thing when you get there and experience it all in real life. When they say it’s the town that never sleeps, they’re not fooling. Regardless of what time of night or day there was always something going on, something to be found and something cool and exciting to do. Whether it was food and new things to eat, music and entertainment on some level or meeting folks from engaging to quite strange, there was always some course of action and see.
What I liked the most was the variety. Regardless of when I have traveled previously and of all of the places Ive been, New York offers such a wide variety of nearly all things. But initially I am going to admit it looked a bit overpowering and even threatening on occasion. After a day or 2 I settled in and got more into the vibe of the town and the people there. But what a hectic pace it is if you aren’t aware enough to go at your own rate and let yourself get caught up in the local pace that’s set. I suspect the thing you can be in a big, very big town and all it has to offer but then be in Central Park as if you have left the town and went to another place.
When we went to the park we saw families, couples walking together as if there wasn’t any one else around, some seedy characters for sure and folk from regular looking folk to gigantic business and affluent types. What a mix it was and I can only imagine its like this nowhere else. Where else are you able to see such an incredible variety and mix of folks all in the same place passing each other every day? Even as I sit and imagine it I cant think about another place so diverse.
And in many places there are particular areas that stand out or are famous for their art and entertainment or for their culture and history or something that brands them. But in NY city they have it all. I didn’t realize how much we were doing some days until we stopped to rest or made it back to the hotel and realized my adrenaline was taking over but my body and spirit were essentially weakened due to all we did each day . But we would eat, rest and then prepare for the superb and wonderful night life the city has to give. And it goes until the sun comes up. I know I’ll go back and already look forward to it.
